Teen and distracted driving

75% of all american teens own a cell phone.
1 in 3 teens say they have texted while driving
52% of cell phone using teens have said they talked on the phone while driving
48% have been in a car while the driver texted
40% say that they have been in a car where the driver has used the cell phone.

"As early as 2006, and well before texting had become mainstream in the U.S., the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project reported that more than a quarter of adult cell phone owners felt their cell phone had at some point compromised their driving ability. In the survey, 28% admitted they sometimes did not drive as safely as they should while using their mobile devices."

Half (52%) of cell-owning teens ages 16-17 say they have talked on a cell phone while driving. That translates into 43% of all American teens ages 16-17.

Alan Kahazie

Im not sure If im completely persuaded with this guy. I mean his idea was like what Keshawn Dodds said a "no brainer". Kahazie proposed a plane that people have been wanting for years and candidates have been bringing up in past elections. Im not sure if he has my vote yet. i mean his ideas were good and he def knows what hes talking about. I just wish he went into more detail with his plan. I would have liked him to have a copy of his plan for us to view. i think im going to have to do more research on him before im persuaded to vote for him.

The site states that those who blog and use social networking sites are more politically involved. This is said to be because of the high usage of adults. 37% of users from ages 18-29 either blog of use social networking as a use of political involvement. Half of the people involved in political groups communicate through websites and email. The site also states that 17% of cell phone users who are part of political or community groups have communicated with a group via text message on a cell phone device.

Bonding & Bridging websites

Bonding- myspace.com
facebook.com
aim.com
These 3 sites are ways for people to connect. Their made for people to communicate with friends and family all over the world, hence the word "bonding". Facebook and myspace are websites designed to visually communicate with people. A person can add pictures and even chat with their person of choice. Aim is a simple chat area where, like texting you can chat back and forth to the people you know with out using the phone. Its a little less personal but it still allows you to connect with the people you know.

Bridging- Aic.edu
youtube.com
TMZ.com
Bridging websites are sites used to connect people who not generally know each other, but have common interest. For example aic.edu is a school website that attracts students, fans, faculty, & staff. Places like youtube and TMZ.com are other sites where people can watch videos and get news. You can broadcast and watch videos and connect with people all over the world as well.
